Shakira, John Meyer (May 21), Elton John, Leona Lewis (May 22), Muse, Snow Patrol (May 27), Miley Cyrus (May 28), Rammstein and Megadeth (May 30) are among the confirmed bands for this year's Rock In Rio Lisboa, set to take place May 21-30 at Parque da Bela Vista. LA-based quartet Black Eyed Peas perform at Lisbon's Estadio Nacional as part of their world tour on the back of latest album, The E.N.D.. The release showcases the outfit's current slick, techno-pop sound.

Rock in Rio is a series of rock festivals held in Brazil and later in Portugal and Spain. This music festival is one of the biggest in the world. With seven editions to date - three in Brazil, three in Lisbon and one in Madrid - Rock in Rio has brought together over 4.5 million people.

The first edition of Rock in Rio Lisboa, as the festival was officially called, took place in 2004. Although the festival had a slight change of name, it kept the same structure as the Brazilian editions. An entire City of Rock, with an area of over 200.000 m2 was erected at the Parque da Bela Vista, with a large centre stage and several tents where different artists would perform, simultaneously.

The Parque da Bela Vista is one of the largest open areas located within the city limits of Lisbon. Traffic and parking spaces in and around the City of Rock will be restricted. Use public transport. Use the normal subway lines (red line) to arrive at Bela Vista and the special lines when you leave.
